Access WHS backups through RDP? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there any way I can browse my WHS backups through a RDP connection? I'm having some problems setting up the WHS connector on my clients (see http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en/whssoftware/thread/52185107-fbe3-4f62-b02d-feb336283864), but since I really need a single file from one of my backups I'm asking this. I can't seem to open the backups through opening them in a RDP connection. It won't let me.

Are the backups stored somewhere in the file system where I can browse them, or are they encrypted or something and can they only be accessed through the WHS console?

  • You can only open backups through the WHS console running on a client.

  • You can not "browse" the WHS backup database directly.
Individual files in a WHS backup are only accessible from a WHS client through the Console.
