Synchronize CRM4 with Exchange public folders

Question
-
Hi Forum,
is it possible to synch CRM4 with Exchange public folders? When I open a public contact I don't have the CRM section in the menu ribbon.
If it is not possible to do that via Outlook, is there a work around?
TIA

Hi Alex,The simple answer to your question is No you will not be able to synchronize public folder contacts to MS CRM. This behavior of MS CRM outlook client is by design. Why where the public contact folders used in the first place? Were the public folders used prior to the MS CRM implementation in the organization?A possible work around that I can think of is to export the public contacts into a CSV file and import them into MS CRM. This will allow system users to share contact information and update contact details from/to the CRM system. This will also allow system users to associate the conacts with the correct organization record in MS CRM and store communication with the contacts in MS CRM.Hassan.

Hi Hassan,
thanks for the answer. Public folders were used, because CRM wasn't.Thursday, July 30, 2009 8:42 AM -
Hi Alex,You're most welcome. In this case exporting public contacts and import into MS CRM would be the proper way of managining contacts after CRM system implementation.regards,Hassan.

This answer is a bit delayed, but may still be useful.
I recommend you to consider the Agile Dynamics CRM to Exchange Synchronizer (DXSync). It provides server-side integration between Dynamics CRM and Exchange. Integration includes synchronization of Contacts, Meetings, Calls, Tasks; Archiving emails; special scenarios to replicate and create items like Opportunities and Cases from your email client. This solution works without any client-side plugins. No need for additional configuration of standard mobile or desktop email clients (Outlook, Entourage, Mac Mail, iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows Phone, Blackberry, etc.).
Free trial version is available for download so you can try DXSync before making a decision.
If what you need is one-time synchronization, then trial mode may be enough to get required results.
