How to handle SharePoint 2007 site during upgrade/migration from SBS 2003 to SBS 2008? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am in the process of planning for an SBS (Small Business Server) upgrade from version 2003 to version 2008.  The upgrade requires a migration to another computer which will become the new AD controller.

The upgrade process appears to migrates all services (Exchange, SQL, AD, etc) running on the old server (SPMAIN) to the new server (SPSBS) and then promotes the new server to the primary domain controller and then I remove the old server from the network.  The end result is I will have a new server with a different name (SPSBS) running AD.

I also have a third server (SPGPFS) in the SBS domain running SQL 2005 and SharePoint 2007.   My question is: How will SharePoint handle this migration when the AD name is changed to SPSBS? And, are there any AD changes required before the migration and\or before the old server is removed from AD?
