Windows 7 Not genuine, but actually is. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey,

I have read other tabs and here is the clipboard of my WGA validation.

Also, my 32 bit IE has stopped working and the computer takes ages to load. All of this happened at once about 5 days ago while it had previously worked perfectly. I have had my DELL Laptop for 11 months with McAfee installed and running as normal (or so I think)

I also downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials freeware from Microsoft using the 64 bit IE. While is removed 6 or 7 viruses, non genuine Windows warning and 32 bit IE still do not work and the computer still takes circa 20 minutes to load up. Programs such as the virus ware I have stop for long periods while scanning and generally the computer is just not how it was a week ago; perfect.

Please help if you can & thank you.

However, your Windows appears to be Activated, and validated, although there is an unusual error code highlighted above. This apparently means 'address cannot be resolved' - which would most likely be caused by proxy servers, or firewall problems.
I suggest that you go to the Validation Diagnostics page, and see if that says anything interesting if you use the diagnostics.

If you still have McAfee installed, it WILL conflict with MSE - I suggest that you uninstall ALL McAfee software, and run the MCPR tool to remove the residuals - http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507 - which may include an internal proxy server which is used by a number of AV companies. - you may find that you need to uninstall and reinstall MSE afterwards.
