Live Mesh plug-in RRS feed

  • Question

  • I can't install the Windows Live Mesh plug-in, to alow IE to drag and drop files in to my live desktop. when I try to install it, IE opens two new windows, one talking about live mesh and other talking about the instalation , but nothing happens.
I'm tring to run this on IE8 of a Windows Vista SP2. I tried to disable and enable some security functions but nothing happened.

  • What security software are you running?
How are you accessing the Live Desktop? Are you signing in at www.mesh.com and then clicking on Connect for your Live Desktop?

  • Try resetting IE to default - tools/Internet Options/Advanced.
Also disable any security program that may be blocking the install of ActiveX controls.

  • Is there any other action that I can take? Because I already did it and nothing happens. I tried on my old windows XP machine running IE8 and the same problem happens with the instalation.

  • I have the same problem.  Windows pops up asking to install Add-on Live Mesh, then even when I click Ok the installation says "Installation Cancelled"  Even tried disabling my antivirus, etc..  Had high hopes for Live Mesh but I'm not going to spend 30 minutes on the darn thing.  And if the Drag n Drop plug-in is not installed I can only upload ONE file at a time????

Live Mesh's Live Desktop can receive files via the sync from a PC with the client installed. Any folder designated to sync with the Live Desktop will upload all to that folder. The plug-in is required to enrich the experience for dealing with the Live Desktop in your web browser. If it is failing, something is blocking it on your end or there is a problem on the server you are connected to. However, rather than deal with it, I suggest that you read this post: http://windowsteamblog.com/windows_live/b/windowslive/archive/2010/06/10/coming-soon-windows-live-sync-beta.aspx
