No, the problem for this customer is that they are still using the Service Pack 2 Release Candidate.
Build lab: 6002.lh_sp2rc.090130-1715
This is not a Non-Genuine issue. It is a "Pre-release software expiring" issue.
Please uninstall the Service Pack 2 Release Candidate and then install the released version of Service Pack 2.
For additional help, please see the Service Pack for Vista support page at http://support.microsoft.com/ph/11732#tab1

That last comment made me think this was a Win7 install issue - Win7 Beta's are currently expiring, and before expiry they will reboot every two hours. You haven't uninstalled W7 from that machine, have you? (just in case it's a hangover).I can't see anything wrong with that report other than the Online Validation Code of 0xc004c4a8 - which implies that the computer is unable to access the BIOS Information store for some reason, and therefore can't Self-Activate the way it's supposed to, using the manufacturer's own Product Key. This could be because you updated the BIOS, or a number of other reasons. In that case, the best action is to use the CoA Key on the sticky label attached to your PC to re-activate Windows using that key instead. To do this, follow these instructions:-(provided by Darin Smith - Forum Owner)<quote>Alternate steps to change the product key1) Click the Start button2) Type: slui.exe 3 and hit the Enter key3) Type in the Product key from the sticker on your computer4) Click the Next button.5) You will be asked if want to Activate, click ok6) It will attempt to Activate by the internet and will return an Invalid Key error (this is ok, continue to step 7)7) Click the Start button8) Type: slui.exe 4 and hit the Enter key9) Select your location in the drop down menu and click the Next button10) The next screen provides the number to call to Activate by PhoneNOTE: when you call that number, you will first hear an Automated Voice. If the Automated Voice gives you an option to talk to a Live Activation Rep., select that option. If not, do not enter any numbers. This should force the Automated Voice to transfer you to a Live Activation Rep. Trying to Activate thru the Automated Voice will not work, in your case; only thru the Live Activation Rep. will your Activation be successful.</quote>Good Luck

I did wonder about RC first - and then rejected it :) Duh!definitely not enough caffeine! That is going to mean some major hassle for the OP? -uninstalling the RC/SP means that he's going to have to uninstall the post-SP patches prior, doesn't it?, not to mention reinstalling them afterwards.

To be honest, I don't know.
I understand it's needed to be able to stamp out as many bugs as possible, but Beta software (especally beta software that is installed inside Non-Beta software) generally makes my head hurt. I dislike that most people seem to feel that 'Beta version' means the same as a 'Trial version' and then get mad when the beta software messes up and they loss all thier data.
