My computer is saying that WIndows 7 is not genuine RRS feed

  • Question

  • Does anyone know how I can fix this?  My computer was fine when I left for work yesterday then I came home to the message saying my Windows is not genuine.  I ran a diagnostic and got the following results, but am unsure what I need to do next.

  • Unfortunately, the computer has completely crashed now.  I can't even get to the control panel.  I'm going to try the system recovery disk and see what happens.  Thanks for your advice.

This error is often caused by misbehaving security software - what AV is currently installed? what other AV's have ever been installed?

  • I currently have Norton installed, I think the computer came with a free trial of McAfee many years ago but I did not renew when the subscription expired.

  • Try this...

Please disable real-time scanning/protection and reboot

If the notification has disappeared, re-enable real-time scanning and reboot again

If the notification is still present, first check whether the real-time scanning is still switched off.

If so, then re-enable it and post the result.

If it's turned itself back on then tell me or try again using a different disable option.

    Post back with the results
