MB Swap !!!SOLVED!!! RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi ,  My first post

i know there are similar posts to mine but after reading , it didn't help me at all,  anyway

after motherboard was swapped the windows genuine validation fails  , the COA sticker is faded out completely even under a microscope i couldn't get more than 1 number, i ordered a recovery Cd's from Acer after doing the recovery the laptop was fine for some time then it  displayed the not Genuine on screen .

i already tried to renter the CD key  , but it didn't work and i only getting 3 options without the call

i know its all because of the Bios chip  .

is there away to solve this problem (software) ?

my last resort is to re-solder the old Bios chip to the good MB (i hope the wise engineer is happy for marrying the bios to OS )

    Thanks for any help

  • Is the replacement motherboard identical to the original motherboard? If not, then the Windows 7 OEM SLP license is no longer valid since it is permanently bound to the original motherboard.

  • One last Question  WHO Should Be Responsible for the faded COA on the bottom of the Laptop The manufacture or Microsoft ?

On older computers a better plastic kind of a label was used and they never fade and loose the Numbers on them

personally  think its a type of marketing monopoly to use the COA labels that wont last.

  • The manufacturer of your PC is responsible for the Windows COA label.
