    It looks from your image that the space is between paragraphs.  In Live Writer or in other editors like Microsoft Word hitting enter will start a new paragraph.  You can do Shift+Enter to add a return without the extra space.

    Also keep in mind the Windows Live Writer is using the CSS from the website to behave as it would from the website.
    And CTRL-ENTER could help.
