Cannot attach files withn CRM

Question

HI Could anyone point me in the right direction re file attachements
I'm trying to configure CRM 4.0. The client being used is Outlook on Premise snappin to Outlook 2010. I've looked at various postings regarding attachments but these all seem to be re bulk mail merges etc. However I can't attach any file via CRM even when sending directly to another CRM user.
Mail settings are set to use the CRM Outlook client
I haven't fully setup CRM yet ie customer, products etc but cannot add an attachment when sending email direct to another CRM user. Running crm Diagnostics at the client always shows it as nor synced and then allows it to be "fixed" The network is using Windows server 2008 R2 with little in the way of modification to the default Domain Policy.(required signing of LDAP client)
The Roles appear to be OK showing permissions (core) for appending.
After saving the email I then attempt to attach a file (*.txt) and this fails with an unknown error . If I then view the unsent email it shows the attachment. However clicking on the attachement results in the same unknown error.
Any advice greatfully received as I have exhausted all the items I think it could be. Do the CRM domain\users need to be members of any groups outside of CRM for example the IIS_Iusers?
Regards
Graham

Which Rollup update are you using?
I suggest you apply latest rollups both on server and clients. Currently, latest one is RU 14.
Hope this helps,

I had a similar problem. I had to update to RU6, and only then update to the newest RU. For some reason, if you don't do RU6 by itself, you don't get the table changes, at least in my experience.
