Upgrade to WHS 2008 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I just picked up a copy of WHS 2008, now I'm wondering if I can simply upgrade from my working WHS 2003 Server or if I need to reinstall from a clean system?

    Thanks in advance;

  • You definitively did not pick a copy of Windows Home Server 2008, since this is not an existing product. (Maybe the version with integrated Power Pack 1 has been labeled that way on your source, since this has been released last year.)

    Therefore no upgrade option applies.
    Today has been released Power Pack 3, which will be applied via Windows Update for all WHS, which have Power Pack 2 already installed.

  • Nor can you upgrade from Server 2003 to WHS. WHS is it's own product... while the base is Server 2003, it requires a new install.

    The OP wrote about upgrading "WHS Server 2003", which is not the correct naming, but implicites, that it is already Windows Home Server.
