Push restore of PC through consoe RRS feed

  • Question

  • G'day,

I would like to be able to do a push restore from the console instead of having to physically to the PC.

I would prefer not to have to actually be at the PC (MCE2005 with IR keyboard). At the moment I have to connect up a keyboard and wait for 15 minutes to go through the process.

The other thought I had with this is that the "push" restore could be done remotely connecting to the console over the internet if I am at work and the PC dies from a data corruption issue. My wife can call up and I can fix it from work.

  • You should make this suggestion on Connect. However, it's likely to be technically very difficult. In the case of loose files, you need to choose a destination, and you need to do it from the server, not the client PC (in your scenario). In the case of a bare metal restore, presumably the OS (with the connector) isn't running; How do you target the PC for a restore?
