Windows XP Home Validation

Question
-
I bought a Dell computer that had Windows XP Home Edition. I ran into some problems and a friend wiped the hard drive and install Windows XP Professional. Now my computer says I need to Validate my copy. There is a sticker with the product key on the side of the tower. Can I just use this to validate? Will I lose everything? Does my Office 2003 have anything to do with it?Thursday, June 4, 2009 3:32 AM

Hello The Spires,
Thank you for visiting us today. As Dan mentioned your best option is to contact Dell Technical Support and request the recovery media for your paticular Dell model. I have included their contact information here for your convenience. Since the telephone number and websites are not maintained by Microsoft we cannot make any warranty as to their validity. Thank you again for contacting us here in the Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) program forum.

Hello TheSpires,
For many reasons your best option is to contact Dell and order the OS Reinstallation CD for your model of Dell: http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dellcare/en/backupcd_form?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&redirect=1
