HDD not being recognized after Power Failure

  While performing a disk scan at system start-up for my boot drive, connected as slave, my computer became unplugged, and ever since I have not been able to use my drive.  No matter how or where I hook it up, it still refuses to be recognized.  I have years of important family documents on it that I can not afford to "play around" with any risky recovery games. I need to get this drive operational again.  >>Don't bother if it's anything BIOS or CONNECTION based.  Does not help.<<
