Remote access from OS X? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I know that remote access required an Active X control in IE as of early last year. Has this changed to support other browsers? More specifically, can I use remote access from OS X under either Firefox or Safari from the internet? (I already use MS's remote desktop client to control an XP box on my local LAN).

    TIA.

  • You can access the Remote Access web site from just about any browser (I use Chrome, for example). But in order to see the Computers tab of the web site, or make use of any of the functionality on that tab, you will need to use Internet Explorer on Windows. In addition, some functionality will be different if you are using a browser or OS other than Windows/IE, for example the Easy File Upload tool (which supports drag and drop) is dependent on Windows/IE as well, so you have to browse to files you want to send using traditional HTML techniques instead.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
