project archival in PS2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have looked at  http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/project-server-help/archive-a-completed-project-HA102420489.aspx for project archical steps.

But my requirement is upon archival the resp PM should have access to Project and Project site apart from the selected set of fixed users.

Can I accomplish this by selecting "The User is the Project Owner or the User is the Status Manager on assignments within that Project" for the "Archive" category? (the article specified not to select any check box) OR

Do I give the resp PM permissions after archival by selecting the project-->Project permissions? How are these both different?

  • I figured out a way...Include every person who needs access to any archived project in the group...and access to projects remains to those all who had access earlier too.

Also one more thing is that once archive is complete, the project still remains in project center. To change this go the resp view of project center and include the "Archive" security category. Looks like this needs to be done for every view of project center.

I will now close this thread.

  • I understood why the 1st option would not work...conceptually that will mess permissions...hence ms asked not to select any checkbox.

Is there any way to accomplish this other than creating multiple groups/categories?
