Office OEM licensing question RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

From what I understand, OEM software is ONLY  valid with the original hardware the system shipped with. I recently had a dell machine replaced, and they sent the wrong system. They are now sending another system, and insist that the OEM office 2007 pro license the previous system shipped with is still valid on the new system. They state that they therefore do not need to provide a license for the new system(certifcate of authenticity with serial number to use when installing). It is my understanding that each system needs its own license, I.E. the licenses are non-transferable between systems for ANY reason.

Am I correct, or is the tech correct? (The tech was making a bunch of other stupid mistakes, so i dont trust her)

  • You should have a COA with each operating system.
