HS Backup fails after I merged two partitions on the laptop that was backed up so far RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have a HomeServer that backs up the only PC (an HP Laptop) on a daily bases. For better hard disk management on the laptop I decided to delete one of the parturition and using partition magic to merge it with the other one. All things looked fine. The problem that occurred is that my Home Server backups fail. Message: missing volume drive. Please let me know what should I do to have a successful backup on the HomeServer.
    Thank you.

  • Use the Windows Home Server console to reconfigure backups for the PC. When you used your partition editing tool, you changed the partitions so that Windows Home Server no longer recognizes them. When you reconfigure your backups, you will see that there will be drives indicated as "missing", which you will need to exclude form backup. These are the old partitions, before Partition Magic.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
