  • Forums are meant to be discussed on queries, or convey information to other public users. FAQ is read only, while in forums you can read information, and also post your information if you want.

FAQ consists of questions and answers, while forums consists of topics/sections which consists of threads, and each thread can have lots of posts in it. each thread can span many pages.

  • I will give the biggest difference between FAQ and forums. All major companies including Dell, provide FAQ's and and when certain issues cant be resolved, they recommend forums to interact with experienced users. Forums is at a higher level copared to FAQ's.

  • Good explanation Adnan. But i would like to point out that not only big companies have faqs and forums. Even small sites have it. Forums are general purpose, and there are lots of forums used for personal purpose also. It was first at the beginning when only bigger companies had forums, but now as technology has gotten itself even to the masses, smaller companies, and also people use it for their personal purposes Stick out tongue
