Microsoft Money UK 2005 on a Apple Mac laptop RRS feed

  • Question

  • After being fed up with Windows 10, I am about to switch to an Apple Mac laptop. But with MS money being a windows based operating system,i am trying to find out ways of using Money on an Apple OS. Has anybody done this or got any advice? or are there any good UK  equivalents to MS Money that will work on an Apple OS.

  • AFAIAA there is no Mac version of MSmoney. You could install a 'Virtual Machine' but would need a Windows licence. Many of the popular personal finance packages have Mac versions and of course there are numerous Mac specific programmes. Do some searching, especially for reviews and products that allow 'try before you buy'. Unfortunately you will have to get used to a new programme that is probably not as good as MSMoney.

  • Microsoft Money cannot be used directly on a Mac.

You can install Windows on Mac with Apple's BootCamp, VirtualBoxParallels or VMWare Fusion. You will need a Windows licence, but can then run Money and other Windows software in the virtual machine. There are different advantages and disadvantages for each option.

Wine may work and you would not then need a Windows licence.
