  • Question

  • What I am seeing more of with "Vail" is a move towards the server being the key home infrastructure component,

and I am all for that.

In the connected world of school and work we are becoming accustomed to the concept of a "shared desktop".

I'd like to see this fully supported by "Vail".

It seems a natural extension to hosting "My Documents" etc on the WHS,

and the concept of "Shared Folders"

On our home network we share machines, with the same individual login on each of them,

it would be so convenient to have to only set up the desktop once.

    Thoughts?

  • If you're talking about roaming profiles, where you log into any computer and have your famil.iar working environment, that's a feature of Active Directory and won't be available in Vail.

If you're talking about the Windows 7 Remote Apps feature, the Dashboard is a remote app so (technically) it's doable. There's nothing in the product to facilitate you making further use of this feature, though. If you're comfortable with that sort of thing on your own, I'm pretty sure you can figure it out. If not, maybe some enterprising add-in writer will come up with something. :)

If you're talking about something else, you probably want to make a product suggestion on Connect .

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • Ken.. by "Dashboard" do you mean the v1 Console? Or did I miss something? My
WHS v1 is pretty basic, so just wondering. Or were you referring to a Vail
'dashboard' that replaces the console? I have not got set up yet so pardon
    my ignorance... :)
