Moving Server Storage to new install

Question
-
I have an install of Vail that bombed on me before I had a backup of the Server / OS itself - so I had to reinstall. That works fine, but now it only see's 2 of my 3 Server Storage drives - although all three are connected and the 3rd, or 'missing', one is listed in the 'Hard Drives' section of the Dashboard.
It's like it doesn't realize that disk is the missing piece of the server storage pool.....

You shouldn't have your only copy of irreplaceable data on your Vail server, so hopefully there's nothing important on that drive.
However, before you do anything else, please file a bug report on Connect , including server logs collected with the Vail log collector tool.

Add it back in to the server storage pool? Is it a USB drive? If so, can you install it internally or connect it via Firewire or eSATA? USB drives have been problematic in the storage pool in V1, and while I'm sure there are robustness improvements in that area in V2, USB 2.0 is still a rather poor excuse for a mass storage bus.

I'm afraid if I add it back in it'll format it and I'll lose everything on there.

Yeah, nothing irreplaceable on the drive, just a lot of ripped DVD / BD that it will take a while to recover.Monday, May 3, 2010 3:49 PM

Did you create an issue for this problem? This is the exact problem people are concerned about with the new disk architecture.Friday, May 14, 2010 12:49 PM
