Issue using Live Mesh Mobile with Windows Mobile Pro 6.1 on my HTC Touch VIVA RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hi All,

I had been using Live Mesh for Mobile on my HTC Touch VIVA (OS Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro ver. 1.26.720.1 build ver. 5.2.19971.1.2.6) for quite a long time. Live Mesh even worked when it showed errors about "Configuration Error during loading".

Now the application does not even start. I try to start the application, the initial screen shows up and then it ends itself. I have gone through the process of removal and reinstall a number of times but to no avail.

Has anyone been experiencing such issues and is there any solution available?

    Thanks in advance.

    XHB

  • Has anything else changed on the device? Since it fails to start at all, it sounds like some sort of corruption/memory issue. If it started and then failed to sign in, I'd consider a service issue. Have you reset the device? What kind of memory is available? In the known issues list it mentions that Live Mesh will fail if there is less than 10% free memory on the device.

  • Hi Steve,

Good of you to respond to my queries. In my case the application does not even come upto the login screen. The details of the memory available on my phone are as follows:

    1. Storage: Total - 139.01 MB; In Use - 119.01 MB; Free - 20.00 MB

    2. Program: Total - 107.18 MB; In Use - 57.34 MB; Free - 49.84 MB

    3. Storage Card: Total 7782.50 MB; In Use - 6928.62 MB; Free - 853.88 MB

With the exception of two games that I had installed in the past few months, nothing has changed. Also the games that I installed, I did so in the external memory. This Live Mesh application I had been using for quite a while now. I used to login every week using my WiFi network at my residence and synchronise my folders online.

When you say that Live Mesh needs at least 10% free memory for it to work, which memory are you referring to?

    THansk in advance,

    XHB

  • The reference to free memory would be the Program Memory, I believe. In any case, you have enough free Program Memory. You do have only a small amount of free storage memory, though it is greater than 10%. It may be worth trying to free some of that up by uninstalling a program or two. The same goes for that Storage Card. It currently shows more than 10% available, so it should not be a problem.

Did you perform at least a soft reset of the phone after uninstalling and before reisntalling?

  • Hi Steve,

I have gone through that process already about half a dozen times. The phone also gets reset at least once a week for backup purposes. Is there anything else that I can do?

  • I can't really think of anything short of a hard reset. :-( That would be a bit excessive for a beta product, though.

Perhaps uninstalling and then looking for any files or folders related to Live Mesh on the device and even using a registry editor to look for and remove Live Mesh entries.

Personally, I'd not bother. I recently upgraded my phone and have to live without Live Mesh on it since it is an HTC device running 6.5, so Mesh won't work on it. You can still upload/dowload files via the browser at the m.mesh.com URL, I assume.
