How do I restore a "duplicate" system? RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I upgraded my machines to Windows 7, I didn't change the system names and WHS automatically created a duplicate for each machine with the new (Windows 7) OS.  I turned off the old ones and WHS has been doing its job as expected.  Now that I need to restore one of the machines though, I find that I can't get to the Windows 7 backups.  When I'm prompted to choose a machine to restore, I see two entries for the target machine but no matter which one I choose, only the first set of backups are listed; I can't get to any of the Windows 7 backups.

Is there any way to get to the correct set..short of removing the old system from the console?  It seems odd to me that WHS would let you maintain two sets of backups for the same machine but not let you use the most recent set for restoration.  Is that really the way it's suppose to work?
