Are you guys sure you understand the bug of the alert problem?

Question

I'm confused.
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/reportabug/thread/653f2e96-8679-431f-a32b-f5b93a762b42
That's locked so I can't post there.
I post a response. Sometimes I get alerts, sometimes I don't. I see where there's an alert on some of my threads and not others.
Example here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/smallbusinessserver2011essentials/thread/c6d1c24a-9a5b-44dc-84a7-31a55ebbeac2 not marked as answered. I have alerts set.
So why is this not working? Nothing in the locked thread facts of the bug leads me to believe this will be fixed on 7/7?
I don't mean to be rude, but are you sure this will be fixed? I never know if a poster is coming back to answer a thread or not.

At least for this main issue I consider this mostly fixed.

Thanks Susan, we'll take a look at this thread you reported. Can you verify you are subscribed to the thread above by verifying the "Alert Me" option says "Remove Alert" when you go to that thread? If you are subscribed to that thread, did you get any alerts on that thread after you had subscribed? Thanks

No, that's the thing, my settings are such to default set to be alerted whenever I post. I posted on 6/20 and no alert was set. It should be. It was on this one, but I've missed alerts because it's not consistently setting an alert when I'm posting like this one.

Yeah, the same thing happens for me. Everything was working great some time ago. Now if i respond to a post (as I am doing now) with the Alert me when someone responds to this post checked, it still doesnt set the Alert. I have to then manually select the Alert Me link on top of the post.

Yes, the default setting which sets the value to true when 'replying' isn't working. The "Alert Me when someone responds to this post" setting isn't being set. Until our July 7th release you will need to actually click Alert Me on the "thread", that should still be working. This is the bug discussed in this thread http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/reportabug/thread/653f2e96-8679-431f-a32b-f5b93a762b42

That *was* working for me when this problem first appeared
after the last update. But over the past few days *no* alerts
are being emailed to me even when I have set "Alert me" in
this way for a thread. *All* alerts have stopped coming now.

We spent some time digging around in the code, from looking at it, this recent issue doesn't look so recent, even though people have started reporting it recently. As for 'no alerts' we'll take a look at the back end, that isn't related to this bug.

Not fixed here, either, as far as I can tell.
The only alerts I get are from OLD threads where the notification was set before the problems arose.
That makes me believe the issue is in the alert setup process, not the email generation process.
Ah! I came back and noticed the Alert bell icon on this thread. That had been missing. Now to see what happens when somebody else posts here... -

Same here. No alerts for new Threads, even though the bell sign ist set successfully. Hoped it was fixed by the update, but seems there is no priority on it. :-(

This should not be marked as answered as alerts are still not working!
