Backup to another compter not accurate RRS feed

  • Question

  • I normally use my PC using MS Money 1996. Decided to update laptop's info in MS Money. Transferred the backup to the laptop and hit restore backup.

The info is wrong. There are too many shares in some accounts. Also holdings that have been sold show up. I don't get it.

  • Did you maybe inadvertently copy over an old backup (.mbf) file?  What happens if you copy over your current Money (.mny) file and open that?

  • Hummm....very odd.  Just to be sure that we're not missing something obvious, is there by any chance an old mny file on the laptop?  Money will remember the most recent file used on that machine and always open it.  To be sure you are getting the correct file, right-click on the Money file that you copied from your desktop and select Open.

Are other accounts up-to-date?  It just the investment accounts that are incorrect?  Have you ever archived?
