CRM 2013 and Outlook 2013 causes corrupt PST file

General discussion
-
I have a recurring Outlook PST file corruption issue that SCANPST can not fix.
Computer: New Dell Insperon Laptop loaded with Windows 8
OS: Windows 8.1 (the 8.1 upgrade notification occurred one day, I thought it was a "normal" windows upgrade, made the mistake of loading it. It has now caused my Microsift CRM and this issue to be unsupported by Microsoft, I'm totally out of luck)
64-bit OS x64 based processor, CORE i3 processor, etc.
Program: Office 2013 Home & Business 2013, Version 15.0.4569.1508
Specifically OUTLOOK
Issue: If I sync with CRM I get the dreaded "cannot open PST file" error.
I run the scanpst tool and it cannot fix the file. I show the results from the log below....
I believe this occurs CRM Outlook plug in performs a sync, it causes corruption, and Outlook does not properly handle the file. I can re create the issue at will.
So the file is corrupt, I have to try to go back to my last Carbonite backup, and manually rebuild the file (try and open, import, etc.). My company uses a POP email provider, they will not change, not an option. My only real solid source to make sure I have all my email is my iPad. it keeps the mail and is rock solid.
This is getting old. I am convinced that the CRM Outlook plug in in Office 2013 is not stable on Windows 8.1. It is just broken.
I also have other system errors that make no sense to me like "The performance counter name string value in the registry is not formatted correctly. The malformed string is 8282. The first DWORD in the Data section contains the index value to the malformed string while the second and third DWORDs in the Data section contain the last valid index values." and "
The machine-default permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
{C2F03A33-21F5-47FA-B4BB-156362A2F239}
and APPID", but I digress. This is all just typical Microsoft stuff, and tech support can not help me here....So, is anyone else having the same issue?
I've worked with Microsoft support, they tell me:"As we able to provide you information regarding Windows 8.1 and Internet Explorer 11 are currently not compatible with CRM 2013 and as per our discussion I will be proceeding with the closure of this case by EOB as unsupported."
Other background:
I originally reported the error that is caused by using Outlook CRM plugin, it totally breaks the system, but when I worked with Microsoft Tech Support, they kindly informed me that I was hosed, they don't support the use of Microsoft Dynamics CRM with Microsoft Windows 8.1, and that because I accepted the 8.1 upgrade release, I cannot downgrade......

Symptom – launch outlook, during send & receive at bottom of screen it shows progress, similar to:
“Downloading message 1 of 8, 8b of 264KB” and if I let it continue it will take hours, but seems to slowly progress (note: during the 5 minutes composing this message it is now up to 1.48KB)
I cancel the send receive, close outlook, try again, same result.
I cancel send receive, close Outlook, reboot computer, and retry.
It works! It communicates so fast it is just a quick blip on the screen for all 8 messages.

I dont know what the solution to your problem is.. but I can say that I have now installed 3 clients with a total of 150 CRM users on Windows 8.1 and Office 2013 with CRM 2013 plugin...
Never had any problems with it....
The fact that you are using pop3, shouldnt matter. I have done multiple installations for gmail accounts before as well..
I think you need to look at your PC installation.. reinstall office to start with.. and if this doesnt help.. reinstall the PC.
As I said... I done loads of these.. and never had any problems.

Hi,
In the past, I also encountered similar problems that scanpst cannot fix. I finally find another tool called DataNumen Outlook Repair which fixed my PST file problem. You may have a try as well.
Good luck!

Hi walterR_Austin,
what is the CRM version you are using? With Update Rollup 2 for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 (06.00.0002.0046) Windows 8.1. and Internet Explorer 11 are supported for using CRM 2013 web application and CRM for tablets – see the notes at support.microsoft.com/kb/2919956/en-us
If possible, I would recommend you to upgrade to CRM2013 UR2 and test again the behaviour.
PLease let us know if this helps.
Thank you for using Microsoft Dynamics CRM Forums and Communities.
