CRM 2011 workgroup - 'upgrade' to 90 day trial unlimited users RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a client on CRM 2011 for Workgroups with the 5 user limit.

We need to extend our testing group in the company to more users.

So I want to install a 90 day trial of the unlimited version.

I've been told this is possible, but want some direction on the procedure.  I've heard, that it will delete all exisiting data already entered.  can I perform a backup and restore.

What other issues might I encounter?

  • You can install a separate 90-day trial of the server edition (server edition allows unlimited users). I do not think you can change your existing installation (i.e. your workgroup edition) to allow more users on a trial basis.

You can upgrade the workgroup edition to a licensed server edition by adding the new product key (which you must purchase) without reinstalling or losing data.

The server edition allows for unlimited users, but you must still buy a client access license for each user.

If you install a separate 90-day trial (which must go on a separate server) then you can copy your existing CRM database into the new deployment.
