Hello,
After looking for some recent papers and coming up empty-handed, I noticed that there seems to be a problem with missing publications from 2011 onwards.
Comparing the number of publications by year between Academic Search and (as an example) PubMed shows a constant ratio of ~40% from 2007 to 2010, but then the publication count in Academic Search drops off sharply during and after 2011:
Publication Year |
MS Academic Search |
PubMed |
2007 |
2,056,885 |
781,718 |
2008 |
2,215,319 |
831,019 |
2009 |
2,393,427 |
871,022 |
2010 |
2,345,937 |
933,431 |
2011 |
1,393,472 |
1,006,971 |
2012 |
289,538 |
1,065,781 |
2013 |
6,730 |
1,109,949 |
2014 |
271 |
184,275 |
Examining the publication graph for any regularly published journal in annual mode also illustrates this trend.
Is this a known problem, and if so are there any plans to fix this?
Your Academic Search tool is otherwise a very nice product and I'd really like to use it, but this issue greatly diminishes its utility.
