How do I reinstall my windows xp if I no longer have the product key code RRS feed

    I am the original owner of the computer, but it is 6 years old.  How can I reinstall the operating system without the key code. Shouldn't microsoft or dell be able to verify information so I can reinstall without having to purchase another disc on a computer this old.

    When your Dell starts up, do you see a blue bar with www.dell.com in white letters at the top of the screen for two seconds?
