  • Question

  • My motherboard recently died so I purchased a new one and formatted the hard drive and reinstalled the vista but now I get "The product key you typed is already in use" and not sure what to do. I ran the diagnostics tool and here it is.

You've changed motherboards - and have an OEM License.
I'm afraid to say that the terms of an OEM license are such that the license dies with the motherboard.
You can try explaining the situation to an Activation rep, and see if they will allow the change (MS can be flexible - sometimes!), but it's more likely that they will refuse.
You need to use the Activate by phone option...
    Click on Start
    In the Search box, type
    SLUI   4
    and hit the Enter key
follow the instructions - when the automated service asks which service you require do NOT respond. This should force an operator to pick up
