  • Have you rebooted since you validated?  If you passed validation that should clear up that message.

  • Also under Control panel> System at the bottom it has my CD key there.. and above it it says " This copy of Windows is not activated. Click here to activate Windows now."

  • Please try this:

Open an elevated command prompt (find Command Prompt in the start menu, right-click it and choose "Run as administrator") and type "net start slsvc" (and hit enter).

If you get the following message:

"The Software Licensing service is starting.
The Software Licensing service was started successfully."

try validating again.  You can do that by clicking "Validate Windows" here: http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/

If you get a different message please run a disk check and then run (no quotes) "sfc /scannow" in an elevated Command Prompt.  And then try validating again.

      Thank you!

-----This Copy of Windows is not genuine----- I find this weird because it passed the validation

Please follow this simple troubleshooting procedure:

    1. Download and run the MGA Diagnostic Tool: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

    2. After running the MGA Diagnostic Tool, click on the "Windows" tab and then click on "Copy".

    3. Next, visit the following website and create a post in the "WGA Validation Problems" forum and paste the results of the WGA Diagnostic Data in a detailed post. http://forums.microsoft.com/Genuine/default.aspx?SiteID=25

    4. A WGA troubleshooting specialist will analyze the data and recommend an appropriate solution.
