need to know how to burn used DVD+RW so I can use them for backup again. RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I have a large number of DVD+RW which have been used for backup purposes.  I would like to be able to re-use them for back instead of purchasing more new ones.  How can I delete the old data?

    Thanks in advance,

  • My recommendation is to purchase and use DVDR discs for future backups. OneCare backup tends to dislike erased RW discs for backup. If you have started a new backup set, the old DVDRW discs can be used for something else. You should be able to right click the disc in Windows Explorer and select erase. You should typically erase the RW discs using 3rd party burning program that came with the computer or CD burner in many cases. These discs can then be used for other purposes.

Don't erase backup discs until you have begun a new, full backup in OneCare as a restore will likely require many of the originally created discs in a set starting from Disc number 1.
