Importing Notes/Activities to Custom Entity

Question
-
Hello All,
Recently I was migrating an database into crm and there were many notes that had been recorded in the previous database. After some research I found out how to seemlessly import these notes with no troubles (thank you forum!). So i imported all the notes with accounts and contacts, no issues. Then I tried to import notes associated with a custom entity and things went south. There is no object type listed in the data import tool to map to. There are object types for account and contact but not for custom entitys. Can any one offer up a solution/reason?
Thanks in advance!
DK

I just did a test using the Import Tool within CRM and was able to see a custom entity when I selected the 'lookup' icon to the left of the Regarding field. I'm not sure what tool you are using to import notes or why you are trying to map the Object Type Field but you'll want to have a Regarding field in your import file as that is what CRM uses to associate the note with the record in CRM. The value in the Regarding field should be the 'Name' of the record in CRM. The 'name' is the required field that gets created by default when you create a new custom entity. By default it is labeled something like new_name. Here is a screenshot for reference.

Is it possible that notes were not checked when the custom entity was created? If you open one of the records from the custom entity are you able to manually add a note? If the custom entity was created to allow notes then you should see it in the available list for the import as long as the entity has been published to production

Donna,
Thanks for the reply! Yes notes are checked on the custom entity, and notes can be added. I can see all of the default entities for the object type field but none from the custom. The entities/customizations have been published.
thanks!
