upgrade from MCSD.Net to MCPD Enterprise RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello - According to the MS Certification website, the upgrade path from MCSD.Net to MCPD Enterprise Developer requires two tests, 70-553 and 70-554. It appears that 70-554 covers the same objectives as 70-529 and 70-549. My question is - can I elect to take 529 and 549 separately, instead of 554?

Also, I notice that 524 and 549 are scheduled to be retired at the end of June. Will 554 be retired at the same time?

    Thank you.

  • Hi Grinell,

    Retiring Exams, see

    http://borntolearn.mslearn.net/btl/b/weblog/archive/2010/12/09/retiring-sql-server-2005-visual-studio-2005-and-biztalk-server-2006-exams.aspx

Does indeed include 70-553 and 70-554.

It is one or the other, you can upgrade or do the new exams, but you cannot mix and match.

However you could take 70-552 or 70-551 then take 70-529 and 70-549 but you would also have to take 70-526 if you took 70-551 or 70-528 if you took 70-551.

You would then end up with the MCPD for windows or web as well as the Enterprise version.

You need to do this by the end of June.

The MCPD Enterprise has been discontinued in the 4.0 versions so you may be better of just doing the Windows or Web MCPD version.

Alternatively just do the 4.0 Exams.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind Regards,

    Ozzy Geoff
