Black Screen with Both Admin Accounts

Question
-
I've installed Mesh on both computers, each on an Administrator account. When I connect from my home -> work, everything appears fine. When I connect from my work -> home, however, I get a black screen. The mouse registers movement on the home computer, but otherwise, there's no desktop to be seen. Both computers are running XP on the latest Service Packs.
Any more information needed?

SOLVED:Event Type: InformationEvent Source: Application PopupApplication popup: : \SystemRoot\System32\rdpdispd.dll failed to loadI also noticed that occasionally even the standard Windows Remote Desktop would fail, and I saw an event log noting "Application popup: : \SystemRoot\System32\RDPDD.dll failed to load". A quick Google search led me to a post on Burt Rutkowski's blog:After installation of the latest NVidia drivers along with XP SP3, apparently the default SessionImageSize of 8MB is insufficient to load all of the display drivers. I edited my registry per the blog post, set the SessionImageSize to 0x20, rebooted both machines, and now I can access both machines through Live Mesh remote desktop perfectly.I still get the "Failed to Hide Desktop" error on one machine, but that it is a minor issue compared to the black screen problem.

I've found out that it is definitely a problem with my computer at home, and not the work computer, because I've been able to connect to another computer at the same house just fine. I'll try to submit a bug report with my log files ASAP.

I had the exact same issue, where I could access Remote Desktop on my work machine from home, but not my home machine from work. I was also able to see the mouse movement on the home machine, but no desktop. I run administrator accounts on both systems, and installed Live Mesh with the admin account. Both run XP SP3. File sharing works fine on both systems. However, I upgraded my video card in the work machine (from an older Quadro to a not-as-old GeForce 7800), and upgraded from SP2 to SP3, and now I can't access it via Remote Desktop either. I simply get a black screen. When I click the "Hide Desktop" button in that case, I get an error message stating "Failed to Hide Desktop". I've uninstalled and reinstalled Live Mesh without success.Note that the work machine has LANDesk remote desktop also installed, by the insistence of our IT group. Previously, I had no issues with LANDesk and Live Mesh both installed at the same time.Saturday, January 3, 2009 3:20 AM

I have almost the same problem, work -> home is fine but home -> work is a black screen:
Mesh is installed on my home and work computers, both 32 bit XP SP3 using an admin based account and all latest security/software updates.
Home comp has single monitor and no proxy setup.
Work comp has dual display and uses a proxy for internet connection.
Files sync okay.
Connecting from home -> work gives a black screen.
Connecting from work -> home works fine.
Connecting from work -> home and then using the remote home machine connecting back to my work machine half works: work machine pops up message saying user trying to connect Allow/Deny. Home machine seems to connect back to work machine (no black screen this time) but things get weird when moving and clicking the mouse (sometimes home machine responds, other times work machine responds in weird feedback loop).

R0b T, This is EXACTLY what I have as well.
- work (XP SP2) -> home (Vista SP1) works
- home -> work gives a black screen.
File sync works fine.
The above mentioned solution does seem to help a bit though. After disabling hardware acceleration and making the registry entry about session image size now allows the home -> work connection to work. But two problems remain:- I can't see the desktop on the work machine when the home-> work connection is live. (Of course I pressed the Show desktop on the remote machine button)
- After disconnecting, the work desktop does not come back. It shows a blue screen and stays there forever. The only solution is a hard reboot.

Please file a bug with logs per the instructions here: Sticky: How to Submit Bugs and Live Mesh Logs
Thanks for reporting the issue. If you can also post back the Connect link for your bug, that would be helpful.
