Email tracking on Mac, iphones and android devices RRS feed

  • Question

  • A large percentage of our users are using macs iphones, android phones and tablets as their primary devices.

We can only track emails in outlook for the PC! This means people with macs need to run citrix or parallels on a mac to track emails (which effectively stops them from using it). People with ipads and android pads and other mobile devices have no choice. If we want all out users to be able to select which emails they track how do we do this?

  • The best way to handle this is on the server side.  Either set up Exchange Server-Side Sync if you're using CRM Online, or set up a server with the CRM Email Router if you're on-premises.

Also, make sure all your users are using the Mobile (A.k.a. MOCA) client for CRM on their mobile devices.  It will track activities including email.  It's less comprehensive than using server-side sync, but it also is a step closer to tracking on those devices directly.

  • Using server side sync - how does a mac user track just the specific emails they want?

  • They don't.  You use CRM rules for email routing.  That's the strength and weakness of server-side sync.  You get all your emails tracked to their respective CRM contacts, but you get all your emails tracked to their respective CRM contacts.
