Is the Address Book Working? RRS feed

  • How can I tell if the Address book is working.  This is our first deployment.  We are using it for just IM and Outlook presense at this point.

     

    When I type a name i know exists in Active Directory into the search bar it doesnt find the users name.  If I go through the gind contact wizard it works find.

     

    Does the search bar not work like I think it does?

  • The search will only find users that are sip enabled.  It downloads every morning from the IIS server.  Delete the galcontacts.db file in your profile and log into Communicator.  If a new one downloads, you are at least getting it.

     

    You can dump out the contents of the address book to a text file.

     

    Go to

     

    %programfiles%\Microsoft Office .... 2007\Server\Core

     

    abserver /?

     

    One of the switched is dumpfile or something like that.  Point it to the newest .ldabs file and it will dump it to a text file.  You can at least see what is in there.
