  • I'm going to assume that you mean that you restored your PC to factory settings and condition using the manufacturer's recovery process and OneCare is not installed (and neither is anything else).

First, go to Windows Update and download and install *all* important and critical updates offered. Repeat this as many times as needed until no more updates are offered.

Then, go to http://onecare.live.com and install OneCare. Within 15 days, you need to activate/subscribe using the *same* LiveID that you originally subscribed with,

If you don't recall the LiveID you used for your subscription, you will need to contact support who can provide that information to you using your Key and/or contact information.

How to reach support (FAQ) - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2421771&SiteID=2

Alternatively, sign in at http://billing.microsoft.com with email addresses that you have set up as LiveIDs and one will show your subscription listed - that would the LiveID to use to activate the reinstall.

You do not want to install Windows Defender if you are using OneCare as OneCare will disable Defender - the protection of Defender is included in OneCare.
