Trying to activate a second computer RRS feed

  • Question

  •

I am beyond frustrated!  I have downloaded a paid version of One Care and cannot for the life of me get this thing activated.  Live teck support is virtually non-existent.  Can anyone help me please?

  • The download doesn't need an ID if you downloaded from http://onecare.live.com *unless* you are installing the beta discount offer version for the first time.

Once the trial version is installed, you activate from within OneCare with a LiveID and a product key or purchase information. If this is a reinstall or install to 2nd or 3rd PC, you simply activate with the same LiveID as you original activation and it becomes part of your subscription.

If you don't recall the LiveID you used for your subscription, you will need to contact support who can provide that information to you using your Key and/or contact information.

How to reach support - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2421771&SiteID=2

Alternatively, sign in at http://billing.microsoft.com with email addresses that you have set up as LiveIDs and one will show your subscription listed - that would the LiveID to use to activate the reinstall.

  • I read that you have to sign on as the original user.  My problem is that I already installed and uninstalled the program a few times.  Right now, it's at the re-installed stage  yet again but on the second computer (mine) the download is under my ID and not the original one.  I can't for the life of me figure out how to change it.  AAAGGGHHHH!

  • Thank you for your suggestion but I already solved my problem last night.  I uninstalled LiveOne yet again and reinstalled it using my husband's LiveID (the original one).  I AM IN!!!!!  You have no idea how happy I am but this was one frustrating experience.

  • I'm so glad to read that you resolved it. The LiveID problem is indeed a big issue for reinstalls! If you don't recall the original one, you're stuck.
