Internet Explorer 8 to Internet Explorer 7 ??? RRS feed

  • Question

  • After updating to E8 computer PC is almost "frozen". Hardly boot up. Two Dell support calls later at a tune of $51.67 each-- ""Hoops can't help, the problem is Sonic (DLA) and E8 are incompatible...""
I end up disabling the "Plug and Play" from the Services tab in the Administrative Tools. PC now works OK, but not web cam, printer, cd drive, no sound, no smart card reader, and no usb connections. I removed the DLA from the programs, still no changes.

Can I reinstall IE 7 before I removed IE8 without losing all my shortcuts or PC crashing?

All "add-ons" from Explorer has been disabled-- still no changes
    Dell support, "can't help"
Sonic wants another $29.00 for an up upgrade
MicroSoft no longer offer support for IE7 and IE8 only 'till DEC.
And the biggest of all my "windows restore" will not work (is not disable)

Dell Dimension 3000, 2 gigs of ram, 160 gigs disk (94gigs of free space), XP Home Edition SP2.

    Thank you.     joselsanchez@msn.com

  • Hi Shrikant

Thanks for taken on in this issue. I hope by reverting back to IE7 from IE8 that will correct my computer problems. I am trying to avoid reformating the hard drive since I have lots of documents and pictures on it. And I can't save them to an external drive because none of usb connectors work at this time.

    Thank you
