Windows Product ID: 00426-068-8163386-86417
The product ID -068- Indicates a not for resale MSDN account. If you are not the account holder and you purchased this in a retail box, the box and it's contents are counterfeit. Demand an immediate refund from the seller

Thanks, that was what I assumed. It was TWO machines that I had bought an upgrade from home premium to ultimate (to allow me to backup to a NAS) from an online site (softwareserial.net since renamed to softpcs.net, in case anyone else bought from these disreputable sites). Both upgrades worked fine for a year, and then both came up with the same message yesterday.
Thanks for the analysis. One question I have is how would I go about reverting back to Windows 7 Home Premium that came installed on both of the PCs originally? Since the Windows came installed, I don't have original installation media, etc. Is there some way to convert back? Thanks a lot.

likely your computers came with a recovery partition. See your documentation or manufacturers website for instructions on how to use it. you should also be able to order OEM recovery disks from your manufacturer.Thursday, January 10, 2013 4:33 AMAnswerer
