I need a CD for MCTS: 70-526 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I ordered a used book Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Windows-Based Client Development Training Kit 70-526 from http://www.amazon.com.

However the companion CD doesn't arrive. I checked the seller but no response. Does somebody have such a CD? I need a copy of it and I can pay the shipping fee for the CD within US.

  • Hi,

Normaly you can download the CD contents from the Microsoft Press Homepage (ok, not directly. Go on Support there and so on and you get directed to the real press page of the book and there you can download the contents of the CD.) At least that worked for all MS Press books that I got so far.

So there is no need to ask for a copy of the CD. AND: Nobody should give you a copy of the CD, because there is copyright protected material on it, too. (e.g. the book itself in electronic form!) And redistribution of that file is not allowed (Ok, I have no source for it - it is just my personal opinion. But the books are protected (in germany) and you are not allowed to make full copies of books withoit an agreement!)

I hope that helped. if you cannot find it, then just write again and I check the page for you and direct you through the links that I meant. But it should not be hard to find.

    With kind regards,

    Konrad

  • Ohh ... regarding the Visual Studio Trial - that is available from Microsoft, too. Normaly you can even get a DVD with a trial version from Microsoft (Whenever I am in the Microsoft Location here in Germany, Bad Homburg, there are plenty of demo versions available.)

I just forgot to mention that. (And I think some books had 2 CDs/DVDs with them - one with the examples and such stuff and one with a trial version.)

    With kind regards,

    Konrad

  • The book is supposed to be having 2 CDs/DVDs, but I only got one DVD with a trial version from Microsoft.

I haven't found the download page for CD. Would you please provide the link?

    Many thanks.

  •  Typical. I would check your local library and use inter library loan to find your tech books from now on. Especially seeing that most come with a .pdf of the book on a companion CD, buying books is a waste of money. Exceptions to the rule are books that the library wont purchase, but you can sway them with a letter sometimes.

  • Hi,

ok, how to find the information:

http://www.microsoft.com/mspress is the right point to start and there you can go to support and so on. Then you will get to this page: http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/training/format-books-support.aspx#tab2

Great - so we go to O'Reilly and search there and heya: There is your book:
    http://oreilly.com/catalog/9780735623330/

And there: Examples leads you to the CD Contents.

    I hope that helped.

    With kind regards,

    Konrad
