cannot validate RRS feed

  • I have authentic Vista O/S and Office 2007.  I have tried (in the past AND today) to download templates from MS Office, but I keep getting an XP validation issue.  I do NOT have XP, tho the templates originated on an XP system. 

    Why can I NOT download XP templates onto my Vista system?

  • Hi Cat C,

      No, the Error you are receiving is not for Windows XP, it is for Office XP.

    You have 2 versions of Office installed on your computer

      
    Microsoft Office XP Professional - Which is a Blocked VLK 2
    Microsoft Office Small Business 2007 - which is Genuine

     If there are any versions of Office, installed in a computer,  that are Non-Genuine (even if there is also a Genuine version of Office installed) When you attempt to Validate Office, it will not Validate as Genuine.
      

      To resolve the issue, you will need to uninstall the Non-Genuine Microsoft Office XP Professional.

    Note: When there are 2 different versions of Office and both are installed on the same computer, uninstalling one version of Offices may cause damage to the other version of Office.  to avoid this, please follow the "How to Repair Microsoft Office 2000" section of the support doc "HOW TO: Remove a Trial Version of Office XP to Reinstall an Earlier Version" (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/295545/en-us

    (even though the support doc mentions "Trial" versions of Office XP, it is still applicable to regular version of Office XP)

    To repair Office 2000, follow these steps:

    1. In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
    2. In the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box, select the Office XP entry (for example, select Microsoft Office XP Professional), and then click Add/Remove.
    3. In the Maintenance Mode Options dialog box, select the Uninstall Office option, and then click Next.
    4. Click Yes to confirm the uninstall.
    5. In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
    6. Double-click the Office 2000 entry in the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box.
    7. In the Office Maintenance Mode dialog box, click Repair Office.
    8. In the Reinstall or Repair Microsoft Office 2000 dialog box, select Repair errors in my Office installation, and then select the Restore my shortcuts check box.
    9. Click Finish.

  • Hi Darin--thanks for replying. 

    I do NOT have Windows XP on my computer--this "system" was purchased in Jan. 2008, due to my previous problem (read my former thread RE an invalid VLK from a fraud perpetrated on me, which could not be resolved). 

    The NEW Vista and Office 2007 products and system were installed/set-up by a professional computer company (not BestBuy).  I had the computer pros transfer all my files from my old computer that had XP on it.  these pros named my OLD files and my NEW computer "CTD"--which conflicts even me, when i attmpt to look for old files.  There is NO program installed on my computer labelled XP!

    So--back to the original question--how do I orverride this situation?  I do not want to pay another $50 to have these computer pros resolve this problem, considering I had to purchase a whole new system and software to correct a nefarious VLK internet salesman, whom no one can stop!  Please understand my frustration!

  • PS--i do NOT have Office XP installed either, but I did have all my old Office XP files from my OLD computer transferred to my new computer.

  • Download and run the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility.  It appears you still have remnants of the non-genuine copy of Microsoft Office XP installed.
