WGA Plugin error with firefox RRS feed

  • Question

  • I was trying to download DX9 to make sure I was updated for a game and I use firefox. I came across the error "Plug-in  installer could not detect the appropriate browser. [Error: 0x80070002]"

I have checked and both the dll and xpi file are where they should be in firefox. I also did an about:plugins in firefox and have WGA listed there.

I was able to verify an alternate way but would like to take a step out and verify through firefox when I need to do something with windows.

  • Hello Homeslice513,

If you haven't done so already, please go (using your Firefox browser) to http://microsoft.com/genuine/diag and click the Start Diagnostic.  That page will ensure your Vista is setup correctly to run the Validation Process.

Once you pass all the Diag checks without issue, then click the Validate Windows button to see if the Firefox plugin is working.

Also ensure you have the current version of Firefox. There was an issue in the past where Firefox mistakenly blocked the WGA pugin.

    Thank you,
    Darin MS
