Workflow: Wait Command CRM 4.0

    Question

  • We track our client meetings on Cases in CRM.  Every meeting needs follow up where meeting minutes are sent to the client.

So we added the following two fields to CRM:
    MEETING DATE
NOTES: drop down uploaded or pending.

We want to have an email to go the Case owners' manager if the Note Field hasn't been changed to uploaded within 9 days of the meeting.

I was looking at the wait command under workflows.  How does that work? Will the work flow execute after the wait period is over?

Can anyone describe to me how it works?

  • Workflow wait waits until a certain condition is met. It can be a timeout i.e. it waits a certain period of time, it can wait based on the datetime value of an attribute e.g. 9 days before a meeting date or it can wait for a certain condition to be met e.g. wait until field = foo.

In your situation, you'd trigger a workflow off the creation of the case and it would wait until 9 days before the meeting date. It would then check if the notes field has changed from the default value and, if not, it would take action.

  • On the creation of the license have a workflow kick off wait condition where it waits until 7 days before the expiry and then sends the email. Do NOT use the Execution Time for the condition, it won't work.
