Purchased Genuine Advantage Kit and Key But Not Working

Question
-
I run the Windows Product Key Update Tool and got this result:
"The application has encountered a disk-write error while updating components. The system may be low on disk space. Please check available disk space. [ Error: 0x800402c9]"
I have loads of disc space 90 Gig available.
I have run the diagnostic Report, details shown at the end of this message.
I have read all your other replies and there has been no practical remedy to this problem forthcoming, so please address my problem individually, AFTER HAVING READ THE FOLLOWING.
I bought a new computer in good faith and was told that had a genuine copy of Windows XP Professional installed. 5 months down the line a Microsoft notice popped up telling me that it was a counterfeit verson. I then tried to contact the vender of my system who has gone out of business and disappeared.
So I have done the right thing and purchased on line from you a Windows Genuine Advantage Kit and new validation key.
To my HORROR AFTER SPENDING MY MONEY TRYING TO GET LEGAL I get the above notice and am now stuck with a problem which is clearly YOURS TO SOLVE.
If there are potential problems with me using this updating sofware then you should have pointed it out to me PRIOR to me spending a lot of money to validate my system.
At NO TIME did any of the windows screens say anything about the potential problem during the course of paying for a new key. At all times it has said that I would be able to validate my current version of Windows.
I have paid good money for the key please sort it out and tell me what I must do.

Hello Bazzaman,
More than likely you may need to perform a complete reinstallation of Windows XP once you receive your WGA Media Kit. This is what appears to me @ this point because the pre-existing non-genuine version of Windows may be so corrupt that the Product Key Tool may not be able to function correctly. Please back-up all of your favorites, pictures, movies, music and any other data then re-install windows.
Take care,
Stephen
