Printer Sharing between different Operating Systerms

Hello,

I am trying to set up printer sharing on my home network between a desktop running Vista 64 bit that has a printer connected via USB, and a laptop running XP 32 bit. I went into the control panel and allowed sharing of the printer, but when I go into add a printer on my laptop and try to search for the printer and add it, it doesn't show up. The desktop and the workgroup are detected, but I cannot find the printer. Any suggestions on how to find the printer, or do I need a print server because I am running two different operating systems? Thanks in advance.

Hello,

You might have to set up a network. You can do that on both vista and have the XP share to the printer.

On the Vista machine you go to the network connections right click the wireless connection and select properties,

then apply tcp/ip properties .
