Windows Firewall Service Still Active? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have OneCare installed on my Vista machine, and while I see OneCare's firewall service in my Services list, I also see the Windows Firewall service is started as well - Although its turned off when I look at the Windows Firewall from the Control Panel.

Is there any reason I can't disable the Windows Firewall service, and save myself a few MB of RAM?

  • I believe that the core Windows Firewall service is the foundation upon which the OneCare firewall depends, so you rally can't disable it without impacting OneCare, too.
