Unable to add a folder to my Mesh RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a folder that I want to add as a Mesh folder. When I try to do that I get this message:

    ---------------------------
    Live Mesh
    ---------------------------
Could not create a Live Mesh folder on one or more selected devices.

Request to MOE failed with status code:

    503 Service not available.
    ---------------------------
    OK
    ---------------------------

Is the service down at the moment or have I hit on something bigger?

    Thanks
    Jamie

  • Hi Jamie,

I just added a folder without issue, and I'm not aware of any outages.  Are you still having this problem?

    Thanks,

    Ben.

  • Ben, sorry to hijack this thread but serious outage issues have been discussed in the Learning forums since Thursday and there's been no acknowledgement yet from Microsoft. Could you please inform somebody that may be able to help with the situation?

    Thanks,
    Tony

  • Hi Tony,

I'm not quite sure what you're referring to.  I'm not aware of any ongoing Live Mesh service outages (though there was one - which we announced - on Thursday during our upgrade process).  Would you mind providing a link?

Are you currently have Live Mesh connectivity issues?  If so, could you tell me a bit about what you're seeing so that I can investigate?

    Thanks,

    Ben.

  • I also had this problem when trying to add a new folder when at work earlier today.

P.S. I tried uploading this video to Soapbox 2 hours ago but the video (all 6 seconds of it) is still being processed. Another MSFT service that has decided it doesn't like me today - this has not been a good day.

  •  Is there an apostrophe in that folder name? Could you try taking it out? This is totally a guess, but given the "comma in your account name" issues that showed up before, and weird handling of spaces in filenames in Windows in general, a funky punctuation character causing grief wouldn't surprise me.

Good news, its working again now.

A reboot seems to have done the trick.

    Sorry to waste your time!!!!

Ah!  The old reboot solution!  That mainstay of computer troubleshooting. :)

I'm glad it's working for you now.  And don't worry: you weren't wasting my time - we want to hear from our customers.
